Onboard Lady Crossley

News
October 20 2023

For Working Style’s latest campaign photoshoot, we were lucky enough to charter the beautiful Lady Crossley on an absolute pearler of a Friday in September. It wouldn't be fair to call this a work day. With unbeatable weather conditions and a wonderful crew on board, we set out of Westhaven Marina and headed for the serene West Bay at Rakino Island.

Arriving at Rakino we were met with a picturesque bay that we had completely to ourselves for the day. It's safe to say the anticipation for summer was high.

Lady Crossley is a classic wooden launch that was designed and built by Colin Wild in 1947. She was originally built for the agents of Crossley diesels, hence the name Lady Crossley was born. She is the epitome of late 1940’s design, from the hull through to the interior fitout. No matter whether at anchor or underway, she is perfect to the eye at every angle.

After two loving owners before them, Margo and Jamie Hudson became the proud owners of Lady Crossley in 2011 and gave her an extensive restoration inside and out.

The love and care that has been poured into Lady Crossley is evident on first sight at the dock, she is in exquisite, sparkling condition. Lady Crossley features beautiful varnished Kauri and Teak detailing both above and below deck.

Something that makes Lady Crossley feel truly special is the owner's commitment to preserving many of the original fittings.

A big thank you to Margo and Jamie Hudson for welcoming us aboard for the day, as well as to our skipper Alan Houghton from Waitemata Woodys who brought along his expert knowledge and also made our hunt for the perfect vessel a breeze.
